UNIBE Medical School was founded as an expression of concern of a group of dedicated individuals to improve the quality of health education and to train the medical professionals that the new century will demand.
As a response to its dedication to academic excellence, the School of Medicine attracts students of high scholastic performance, serious approach to learning and considerable potential to benefit from and contribute to the stimulating academic environment.
The Admissions Committee carefully evaluates applicant's personal qualities such as maturity, responsibility, and leadership abilities as well as their capacity for empathy and judgement. Serious consideration is also given to effective communication and interpersonal skills, community service, and a sincere and realistic motivation for pursuing a career in medicine.
The faculty consists of over 150 members; most of them are professionals with sound reputations and credentials from top U.S. and European universities. Moreover, our School is recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and is fully accredited by the government of the Dominican Republic to confer the degree of Doctor in Medicine after completing the prescribed curriculum.
Graduates from UNIBE are eligible to take the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE).
Passing Parts I, II and III is a pre-requisite in order to obtain certification by the Educational Commission on Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Those who graduate from UNIBE and pass all Parts of the USMLE, receive the ECFMG certification, thus obtaining eligibility to begin the Residency Training Program.
